Carmel School Hamirpur was established on July 2, 1957, with an initial enrolment of 80 students in Classes 1 to 3. A notable moment in the school’s early history occurred on December 15, 1957, when it was honoured by a visit from Mr. Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India. In November 1965, the school celebrated a significant achievement by graduating its first batch of ISCE students. By 1976, Carmel School transitioned from the ISCE to the ICSE curriculum, demonstrating its commitment to maintaining contemporary educational standards.

On July 24, 1997, the school marked another milestone with the graduation of its first Plus Two Science stream students, who pledged to uphold the values of Carmel as shining examples of the institution’s ethos. Beyond its academic achievements, the Carmel sisters have been deeply engaged in community service. During the 1983 floods, they provided crucial aid and spearheaded relief efforts in Gopabandupalli village, leading to the construction of homes for 40 families in need.

The Golden Jubilee celebration of the school was a testament to its impact, with Mr. P. Hota, former Secretary of Health, Government of India, acknowledging the dedication of the teachers, the guiding spirit of the principal, and the management’s role in delivering high-quality education and preparing students for modern careers.
