In deep gratitude for 50 years of God’s providential care at Carmel School, Rourkela, the Apostolic Carmel Sisters, led by Sr. Veronica Kamath A.C., then Superior of Carmel Convent Hamirpur, embarked on a significant endeavour to establish a school and convent in Jalda.
The foundation stone for the convent building was laid on September 5, 2013, blessed by Fr. Hilarian Minz, Parish Priest of Christ King, Jalda. On March 15, 2014, the convent was formally blessed in a poignant prayer service presided over by Bishop Alphonse Bilung. The ceremony was graced by Sr. Mabilia, General Councillor, Sr. Mirabelle, our Provincial Superior, sisters from Carmel Convent Hamirpur, Kutra, Kharagpur, as well as clergy, sisters, friends, and well-wishers from neighbouring communities.
Today, the convent celebrates its 10th anniversary in Jalda. May the presence and blessings of the Lord continue to enrich this land, bearing abundant fruits of love and service.
