The Apostolic Carmel, Northern Province was large and geographically diverse. Due to its size, it was split into two provinces by a decree issued by the Superior General on 19th June 1990. The new regions were initially called Northern and North – Eastern Province. In December 1990, it was simplified to the Eastern Province. The Eastern Province began with 17 convents spread across West Bengal, Orissa, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Sr. Mirabelle served as the Provincial Superior until January 1992. She had a vision of a diverse province with vocations from tribal areas. The Eastern Province has grown significantly and now consists of 35 communities. These communities are located across 15 Dioceses spanning 9 States and one Union Territory.
