The Apostolic Carmel Eastern Province is deeply committed to empowering women in our society by providing valuable skill training opportunities, particularly for those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Our centres offer comprehensive courses in tailoring and knitting, designed to be accessible for all. For women facing financial hardships, these courses are available either at a minimal fee or completely free of charge.

Upon successful completion of their training, each participant receives a Tailoring Certificate from SINGER INDIA LTD, validating their skills and enhancing their employability. For those from low-income backgrounds, we also provide sewing machines and essential stitching materials, enabling them to start their own independent work ventures.

This initiative is more than just skill development; it fosters self-sufficiency and enhances the economic resilience of women, allowing them to contribute actively to their communities. By equipping women with practical skills and resources, we are not only promoting their empowerment but also encouraging sustainable socio-economic development. Our centres serve as vital hubs for change, where women can gain the confidence and skills necessary to transform their lives and the lives of those around them. Through these efforts, the Apostolic Carmel Eastern Province plays a crucial role in advancing gender equality and supporting community growth.

At present we three full equipped centres at Anandapally, Anjali Barrackpore and Diphu. At Diphu we also have a weaving centre where young girls learn the traditional weaving and thus equip themselves for self-sufficiency.

Some of our convents also conduct sewing and knitting classes for the women of the locality. Thus building confidence and courage among the women to live a upright life in the society having their own savings and not depending on anyone.
